What if Saxon 76 flops?

Dd is in 6th grade. We did Saxon grades K-2, then BJU 3 and 4. We then did Saxon 54 over the summer between 4th and 5th and the first part of the first semester of 5th. We finished the 5th grade year with Saxon 65. She did great! Her test scores were 90 or better on every test.

So, we start 6th with 76. She is struggling. Lesson 5 was a difficult. Usually, the first Saxon lessons are review. I thought we would fly through those. But, it is a challenge. What if this flops? Where do I go from here? Her daily work and tests in 65 were outstanding. I don't want to repeat that. But, 76 is turning out to be more challenging than I thought it would be.

Dd did 6/5 this past year, and we had some time left over, so she started 7/6. I was surprised that it was harder at the beginning than the other years we've used.

I agree with Ellie--do every problem, including the box at the beginning. I would just keep going and see how she does in about 2 months.

Yes, we are doing every problem every lesson. I did not try to "test out" or skip the first couple lessons. I really thought the first 10 or so lessons would be easy review and we would use them for speed and accuracy. Oh well.... best laid plans and all that.
