Good-bye epic novels...hello short stories

Recommended Posts

I had to break down and buy new bookshelves today. It's been something I have needed to do for some time. While dressing for church yesterday, I realized that it's time to say good-bye to my former bestsellers. Between losing a lot of weight over the last 5 years and age (being the old b*tch that she is) I've noticed a little too much space in my bookshelves where some old classics used to live. Usually, I just go in to buy bookshelves and squeeze into or, like recently, roll up and hang loose in a size I have been since I was 13. Alas, 38D has turned into 36 long.

I have embraced my new size, though, and actually like the way the old gals look on their proper shelf. So, good-bye Ds. I've moved onward and upward.

I wish I could say the same for your southern friend. Do they make under wire undies?

I was COMPLETELY expecting this to be a thread about the dumbing down of literature due to publishers only publishing shorter books that 100 years ago would have been considered short stories. :tongue_smilie:

For the record, the only type of books I have are epic novels, of the long drawn out, bring you down variety.

Well, the framework of my epics is still there. There have been a few deleted chapters, though. What used to be happy comedy has taken a dramatic turn to sad tragedy. Think Bassett Hound ears.

Oh my goodness!

I sooooo needed this laugh today. Not in that it was a bad day, just a 'ooo time for a good refreshing laugh' kind of day.

Had to share with hubs, tears about to stream down my face as the boys' music teacher comes upstairs from giving lessons :p
