parias1126
I ordered the 1st grade CLE for my son. He has just sat here next to me and finished the light unit test for 101, 102, 103, 104..... and GOT 100% on every one! Should I let him take the test in 105, 106, etc tomorrow?? I am thinking I bought the wrong grade. Even things we hadn't gone over in his McRuffy K curriculum, he got correct on these tests. I still can't believe he sat that long and did those tests for me. What would you do? Keep testing him or just start him half way through 1st grade? Has anyone had to return their light units? How would CLE respond to this? Veritaserum
Have you done the placement test wih him? Starting halfway though could be a good option. The placement test will help you know if he's ready for level two.
....
Hi! We're big CLE users. We use their LA, Reading and Math. My 7 yro boy is in the LA 200's right now (I think he just started 202). Anyway, your son might be around the 200 level. I would just keep testing him until you find out where to start him. CLE is a strange curriculum, IMO. It's very advanced and if you don't start at the right spot, you can feel like you "missed something". Good luck! It is a good, solid program, though. My 8 yro is in the 300's and they're going over topic sentences, diagramming and paragraphs. I'm pretty impressed.
....
Now that I'm thinking about it...can you go on their website and look at the samples of Lightunit 200, 201 and 202? Maybe you could just start him at Level 200 and work through the 200 series. It sounds like the 100 series is too easy for him.
