holdoll
Did you do it as written or do some tweaking? How long did it take your dc to complete level 1? What did you do when they stalled? What did you then transition into? We took our time and did SSRW over Kindergarten and first grade. I would suggest giving your son a nice long break and maybe go back to some of the earlier readers after a few weeks. Do you use the treasure box and duck pond game, etc.? I didn't always go exactly as the TG said to, but close enough. We transitioned to ACSI for spelling and various readers and comp guides from Veritas Press in 2nd grade for LA along with Shurley English. (Ugh.) my2boysteacher
We started SSRW first grade with my son and he only made it through about half the workbook before there seemed to be a big jump in the curriculum. We stopped and switched to ETC intending to go back to SSRW, but just never did. I really like the curriculum, we just needed to take a slower, gentler approach.
