DawnL
Okay, we will be using Math U See, but the Right Start games intrigue me. Are these something that are fun and helpful? I was just looking on the for sale board, and it seemed that any of the Right Start games for sale, at least some of them, still are shrink-wrapped. How fun could it be, if it wasn't even opened? Any thoughts? Is this "must have"? Or just a whim? Edited August 7, 2010 by DawnL
Crimson Wife
Okay, we will be using Math U See, but the Right Start games intrigue me. Are these something that are fun and helpful? I was just looking on the for sale board, and it seemed that any of the Right Start games for sale, at least some of them, still are shrink-wrapped. How fun could it be, if it wasn't even opened? The games kit covers K-4th/5th grade math. I can see where a parent of a student in the primary grades who decides that for whatever reason the kit wasn't right for their family might still have some of the cards (multiplication, fractions/percents) in shrink wrap. We love the kit and play the games all the time. It's definitely been worth the money for our family, but YMMV.
Guest
We love RightStart math games! We ordered them the end of last year and do enjoy them. I think the hardest part is making time to play them.
Food4Thought
I just received the games last week (so I can't speak as to longevity), but already both of mine have played several of the games and my little one who doesn't have a head for numbers has chosen to play math for several days in a row. I have not opened the fraction cards yet, so they are still shrink-wrapped. I can't imagine I'll open those for another year or two at least. So it may be that by the time we are at that level, we won't have a need for those particular games. We have already played with 4 of the other decks (corners, clock times, multiplication & basic numbers) though.
DawnL
Okay, so sounds like these would be something we would enjoy. I'm not planning on structuring every minute of our day, and I'd like to have some fun things to do.
imhim
We just started playing - my oldest - second grade and I - and they are fun. yes, the challenge is to find time for them.
mdhomeschool
Just so you know, some of the games are fun. All the RS games are card games, though, and the cards are very simply made. I just didn't want you to expect something with a lot of flash! Kirsten
BatmansWife
I'm selling my RightStart books, but I'm keeping the cards and game book. Here's a link to show how to play 11 of the games. :001_smile: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ALAbacusMathFun&aq=f
EKS
The RightStart games are great for helping kids learn math facts and to use them flexibly. My son really likes them and considers playing them to be a treat.
Mama2two
We haven't used all of them, but my first grader loves them. Like everyone making time to do it is the hardest part.
