Looking for 2 bible study suggestions

Recommended Posts

My desire is that whatever the study it be based solidly on scripture, with loads and loads of scripture reference. I'm not looking for a book to read with someone giving their thoughts on a few scriptures. I'd prefer a, "look up a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p scriptures." I want to dig deeply.

Subject areas are biblical wife and motherhood (for me) and how to be a brother in Christ (sister is fine, too, but I am specifically looking for boys who are not very loving toward one another b/c no one ever taught them how to be brothers). 3 brothers, ages 7, 5, and 2. The first two are bound in jealousy and are not kind and loving brothers, but rather in constant competition for whatever the other has.

Thank you :)

I'm not sure which age group you're needing these for, but I'm guessing it's for the elders. For the first part (solidly based on scripture), I really enjoy the Precept studies. If you go for the heavier ones, you may want to only do the first three or four days of each week. Depending on where your guys are at, you may lose them with Greek word studies. I'd do them together at that age.

They don't have much specifically on the subjects you mentioned though. Proverbs would cover alot on those topics right off the bat. Precept has an IISB study on it. Here's a different study that was recommended a bit ago that looked good. http://www.christianbook.com/deep-unearthing-the-treasures-solomons-proverbs/rebecca-powell/9781414106809/pd/106807?item_code=WW&netp_id=445987&event=ESRCN&view=details

Here, we often cover alot of those topics just be reading through Poverbs together each morning. Your girls can use this wisdom as well.

Just another thought. For these guys, trying to confront them on their attitudes toward one another directly may make them rather defensive. Another reason I like Proverbs is that it hits these areas among other topics making it a bit easier to take while helping them learn some wisdom on women, what qualities to look for in a wife, and general living etc. without feeling attacked. (Hopefully, they don't feel that way anyway.)

Best of blessings with all your wonderful crew!

For the first one, not sure if it's what you'd like, but what about Balancing the Sword? There is NO commentary, etc., it is just study the Word and answer the given questions about it, with a side bar to take notes. Vision Forum and some other respected places recommend it highly. People give it good reviews.

Not for my dc, actually. They do a great job of being siblings (mostly). It's for the borrowed children I have daily. 3 brothers, ages 7, 5, and 2. The first two are bound in jealousy and are not kind and loving brothers, but rather in constant competition for whatever the other has.

The wife study is for me. I can never get enough :)

Thank you, I will look into Precepts and we'll add proverbs to our daily reading.
