chrfath
My DS really could use some extra work on his writing. His spelling is coming along okay. Basic writing skills, grammer, sentence structure, all that sort of stuff. I don't even know where to start. He has been using Oak Meadow and doing some of the writing assignments, I need to be more firm about him getting all his work done. :glare: Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I don't want something that is going to take forever or need too much work from me. We have 2 younger ones and a new baby due in Feb. Thanks! Sunshine State Sue
We used Write Shop in 6th-7th-8th grade and I have been pleased with the results. You may read my review here. It may be more teacher intensive than you would like, but my ds needed a good amount of involvement from me in order to improve his writing skills. Good luck! Night Elf
We used Write Shop in 6th-7th-8th grade and I have been pleased with the results. Sue was one of the people that inspired me to try Write Shop. I'm using it with dd12 and ds14. We're only on Lesson 2 but so far I like the layout. The first two days are teacher intensive because I have to sit with them and practice the assignment so they clearly understand what is expected of them. The rest of the lesson is theirs to do and mine to check. I split the difference between the 5-day and 10-day schedules to create a 7-day program to use it alongside ds14's literature course. Jen+4dc
I saw great results with IEW's SWI-B this year with my writing phobic 5th grader and "can't shut up or organize thoughts" 7th grader. I watched the dvds with my kids and we brainstormed together then they wrote and we edited together. It was very little work on my part. http://www.excellenceinwriting.com/swi
