Cindyg
This is an all-boys three-hour swimming and computer game party. It's not a meal. The guys will come in hungry from swimming. They'll want to scarf down something quickly and get on the computer. It needn't be fancy or pretty. So far we have planned... * Cake * Snow cones * Popcorn -- the really cool flavored kind that comes from a specialty store. This doesn't seem solid enough yet. Any suggestions? Night Elf
I would suggest sandwich makings, and monkey platters. :)
Old Dominion Heather
Pizza Hot dogs, Burgers.
Dobela
pizza sandwiches chicken fingers or nuggets hot dogs pigs in a blanket tacos burritos or something else that can be eaten cheaply in bulk and by hand. They may want to eat in front of the games as they wait their turn. And I would make tons - our pediatrician reminded me that at this age they can easily consume 3x time amount of food other people can eat.... DesertDweller
I would do subs, either homemade or from the store deli, cut into 2"-3" sections and tortilla chips with a crockpot of cheese dip. You could also make a meat dip to go with the tortilla chips for variety. Add a veggie platter with dip to round it out. KatieJ
BBQ sandwiches....put it in crockpot so as not to heat up the house and it's ready whenever they are. Chips, pickles, veggies and/or fruit. Easy.
Cindyg
Thanks, y'all. I forgot to mention PICKY EATER ds won't eat anything with sauce or cheese. No pickles. No dips. Burritos and bbq are out of the question. Sub sandwiches, impossible. Nonetheless, I got some ideas out of these lists. I think I know what to do. Thanks again. Maybe fix something just for him and then other foods for the rest of the kids. If my son came over (and he can be a very particular eater) he would be very happy with about anything except BBQ as long as he could build it or it was plain cheese pizza. Nah, at his b-day party, we'll serve something he can eat with his friends. He will eat pizza now. I know it's hard to imagine that eating pizza could be an accomplishment, but it is. I like the idea of a tray of chicken nuggets. I'm not sure I can afford that; but I'm going to look into that. Or possibly frozen pizza (something not too saucy) chopped into bite size squares. Something along those lines.
