Parrothead
When is it okay in the morning for you to hear a lawn mower running? A chop saw buzzing? (If you want to know the circumstances behind the question check the insomniac blog. But I'm not fishing for comments or blog visitors. Just looking for a consensus of a decent hour for such things.) Hathersage
And I'm wondering if it is the weekend, do you expect noises to be slightly later than during the week?
Lolly
Right now? Well, it is extremely hot outside here. I am understanding that people are having to get up earlier to get outside work done. I would be a bit upset at anything before 7. I would be very upset at before 6:30. During more seasonable weather, that time would be more like 8. 4kids4me
Weekdays 7am and weekends 8am. Preferably I'd like it all to be between noon and 6pm. :)
LauraGB
If you are my neighbor and you start cutting your grass before 9am, I don't think I'd like you very much. :tongue_smilie:
CanaryMelody
Depends on if I have a baby or not at the time! Waking up the baby makes me crazy as I need every precious second to recharge my batteries. But generally, during the summer, 8am is fine because of the heat factor. But I much prefer mowing noise to be in the evening instead. During the winter, 10am or (preferably) noon. The only time I got riled up about early morning noise is when they were building a parking garage to the bank that is 3 houses down... they started at 6am on a Sunday! It was so incredibly loud, all of the kids woke up in the house.
holdoll
I'd say 8 on weekdays and 9 on weekends.
BikeBookBread
When we lived in Tucson, people HAD to do their heavy yard work at the crack of dawn or else it would just be too hot. People understood why someone was out working at 6:00 am. Now that we are east, I would notice anything before 8:00 on a weekday, 9:00 on a weekend. Parrothead
Looks like so far 8am is the time most people prefer to hear that kind of noise. Good, I don't feel so bad for complaining.
KidsHappen
Well, if I had it my way then never. Since I realize that not everyone keeps such a strange sleep schedule I would suppose after 8 am although you had better not knock on my door or call me before noon. *********
How about at least 1/2 hour after I wake up? :tongue_smilie:

nono
Our town has quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am. Nothing, not even music, is supposed to cross property lines during those times. Considering that a standard building lot in town is about 40 x 80, it makes the town pretty quite during those hours.
Once Again
No earlier than 6AM. As hot as it is here, waiting till after 8 or 9 is just too late.
Pamela H in Texas
I would guess 7, depending. But a large part of that is that we had to mow an acre with a push mower in Texas. In order to do it in the summer, you HAVE to start early. Seriously, some people sleep ALL THE TIME. I've been to some people's houses when I have NEVER not woke them up! And then there are naps and such. It just would be IMPOSSIBLE to make everyone happy. I don't think you can be selfish (I don't mow at 5am when I wake up), but I don't think other people can be either (your neighbor has a baby and preschooler so doesn't want you mowing between 8pm and 8am OR from 11-3). Just do the best you can....
Parrothead
Oooo, it is quiet, and has been for 10 minutes. Maybe I can get a quick nap so my day isn't wasted due to exhaustion.
mrs.m
I gotta say that I love my earplugs!!! The neighbor has a loud truck that he starts every morning at 6:30 a.m.
Tap
I would understand, but not like noise before 7am in summer. It is pretty common in our neighborhood to hear noise 7am-10pm.
