Aubrey
I can't tell by photos, & I've never lived in one. TIA!
OnTheBrink
There's no hard and fast rule; it's up to how the landlord to have it divided, if at all. I've lived in a duplex that had a private yard; and I've seen others that have private, fenced in decks, but the yard itself is unfenced. Aubrey
The ones I've looked at are fenced. Some say "private," but I wasn't sure if that was--"you & the guy in the other 1/2 of the house share an otherwise private yard"-private or "there's a fence down the middle of the yard, too, so if Mr. Skivvies decides to sunbathe, you're good"-private. Some of them don't even say "duplex." It's left for you to deduce from the strange camera angles. :glare:
fhjmom
If the listing says "private", I would assume that to mean private for the single-side of the duplex, but I wouldn't bet on it until you have seen the actual property. The only time I have lived in a duplex was in college and there was a tall privacy fence around the perimeter of the duplex yard (both sides), with a short, chain link fence down the middle between the two sides for each unit. :tongue_smilie:
Dobela
I would ask the landlord. When I was in college I lived in a series of duplexes. Some had dividing fences between the sides, others didn't. Some required us to mow our half, others didn't. I lived in one that said I could use the front yard and the neighbor was the only one to use the back yard. :001_huh: Better to ask first.
