athena1277
If I wanted a good list of books for my 2nd grader, where should I look? A list that would give good, age/grade appropriate books that I could give her and say, "Your goal this year is to choose and read X number of books this year from this list". I just want something to help me guide her into spending more of her reading time on quality literature. Thanks!!!

anotherbrother
Sonlight I love their lists :iagree: I love their booklists so much I just order the schedules for two cores tonight. I couldn't order the complete cores, but luckily I own a lot of the books and can buy the rest as I go along. I probably could have done without the schedule but I think they'll help keep us moving in a positive forward direction.
jetzmama
Ditto Sonlight. I don't use their program, but I do use their choice of books. I have an old catalog of theirs that I always take to the used bookstore with me to see if I can find a good deal on any SL worthy books while there. If I'm looking for something particular from the SL catalog, I'll check paperbackswap.com... sometimes I can have it within a week! I also like HOD lists... particularly since some of their books are broken down into boy/girl interest. One of my boys will read anything, but the middle would definitely migrate to The Shining Sword over Ballet Shoes. ;) Just some really great books all around in their curriculum (many are on both SL & HOD lists).
