melmichigan
And how do you go about blending the schedules? I am attempting a unit of TOG to see if it would really gel with our homeschool and actually save me time or not. :) I have decided that we do not want to drop all the readers and read alouds we have from SL. The kids really enjoy them. I may scale back some of the RA's. From looking at this unit the RA's from TOG look really dry so I don't think they will work for us. I am thinking of using the UG history as our communal read aloud (SOTW) and then adding in additional reading for my older DD and having LG books available for my youngers. Has anyone done this successfully? Any tips for someone just starting out? I realize I want the best of both programs. ;) I'm just not sure if it is possible. SewLittleTime
I struggled with the same thing this summer. I bought a unit of TOG to try and realized there were aspects of SL I just couldn't give up--readers, read alouds, poetry scheduled. In the end, I decided to continue on with core 3 and 4. I'll give TOG another look when ds is done with core 4. I love what TOG could give to our homeschool, but I just couldn't tackle it this year. I'm interested to see if anyone chimes in here. Siloam (Heather) linked me to a blog that had SL books aligned by TOG weeks. Maybe she'll see your thread.

momee
"I realize I want the best of both programs. ;) I'm just not sure if it is possible." Ugh, me too girl. I commented on your TOG/SL post pretty honestly. Hoping nothing was confrontational to anyone, just being very honest about our experience with both. I still go back and forth. DH said no returning SL again, I have in the past. I love/hate them both:D oh wait, that's not good:tongue_smilie:
