JeneralMom
I know there are loads of lists for "classics" by age/grade, but does anyone know of a list that lists out good books/series from more "popular" genres? For instance, when I read threads about "what would my child like now that they have finished XYZ series" I haven't heard of half of these. I used to spend hours browsing in book stores when I was an older child/young teen but with 4 kids I would love to be able to go to some kind of list that detailed books/series, what age they are appropriate for and maybe some infomation (like an annotated bibliography). Hannah
Its not a list of popular books per se, but I learned of a lot of new titles in 1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up. Someone called Tanya has typed the list up in Google docs. Just over 10% of the titles are foreign and not available in English - which too me is rather annoying for a list published in English, but there it is. Although its not by age, I like to look at the The York Times Children's book list ETA: And going throuh my favourites I also have this list of book reviews done in the NY Times from 1997. Unforetunately its also not by age. And this reading list from the Houston Independant Schools Library network with many recently published titles by grade level.
