5LittleMonkeys
We did VFRU last year but dropped it when we started Latin. I felt it was redundant. If you do Latin do you use any other vocab curric.?
Laura Corin
No, I don't. I just make sure that the boys are reading good books, so they pick up the non-latinate words too. Laura
Tiramisu
I was just listening to SWB's lecture on writing in the high school years. She mentions that a root-based vocabulary program is helpful because even when dc study Latin, they don't always make the connection with English vocabulary. The Latin teacher at my coop has also commented that the kids just don't always make the connections on their own. I'm going to try to get in gear and work on the roots this year. We tried VfCR last year and it didn't go well, so we'll go back to English from the Roots Up.
