Nestof3
My mom gave me one. It has been frozen. Thanks! PS -- Please do not say split pea soup.

The one for split pea can be made with navy beans instead. http://ezinearticles.com/?Ham-Soup-Recipes---5-Delicious-Ways-To-Use-That-Hambone&id=620636

Dawn in OH
I do navy bean soup. It's funny, I HATED it as a kid. My mom and grandmother both made it after Christmas with the ham bone from Christmas dinner. It was a difficult time for me as a child, excited and looking forward to Christmas, but dreading the wretched bean soup that followed. SapphireStitch
We usually make potato soup or 15-bean soup when we have a ham bone. I don't have recipes because I usually just wing it for soup, but Allrecipes.com or Recipezaar.com would have some to choose from.
Liz CA
If you have your fill of protein, feed it to the dog. Mine loves a good bone.
Beach Mom
I am not a fan of split pea soup - yuk! DH loves it, but I can't even stand the smell to make it for him. I eat almost everything, but just.don't.like.that! So...what I do with my ham bones is throw them in a pot with a bunch of fresh green beans and some potatos. Cook a couple hours and viola - dinner. Or I make black bean soup with this recipe http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/pattys-moms-black-bean-soup/Detail.aspx
Dobela
Other good suggestions :) I have also been known to cook that ham bone down for a long time to make ham broth that I freeze and use later for a tasty soup base.
MaMa2005
Black eyed peas. You can do it in the crockpot. Just put in the ham bone, some onion, salt and pepper, and a package of dried black eyed peas. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or until peas are tender. Serve with cornbread. (Peas can be frozen after cooking.)
Geek
I used to make navy bean soup with mine but now I throw them out. They are so full of nitrates that the last time I made soup with one, after half a bowl I reacted so strongly that I nearly passed out. Nitrate soup.
