Guest momk2000
MamaSheep, Would you say the kit could be used on it's own, or would I need to use something else with it? (This would be for a 4th grader) Thanks :001_smile:

(This would be for a 4th grader) Thanks :001_smile: I think it depends a little on what you're looking for in a science program. The activities do have a little bit of an explanation as to what is happening and why, but the explanations don't go into much depth. I would say that if you just want a basic exposure to a wide range of science concepts you could use it by itself. If you're looking for a more thorough understanding of the concepts you would probably want to use something else with it. We used it in conjuction with the Science Explorer Physical Science book according to the schedule I published as Awakening Wonder: Physical Science. But at that age I think it would also work well to use the kit and then look up additional information about each topic in a children's science encyclopedia. momto2Cs
I am now planning to use Elements of Science in conjunction with the Kingfisher Science Encyclopedia and Bill Nye the Science Guy videos (from the library). Thanks for settling my science plans for me!
