King Alfred Academy
Both of my boys will be working through Teaching Textbooks 3 and I'm not sure about spending $39.95 for a second workbook. Do you think the workbook is necessary? Do you find that your child can just write the problem and work it in a spiral notebook? Are there benefits I would be missing if I didn't order the workbook at all and just got the cds for $99.95? Are there things in the workbook that are not included in the cds such as extra explanations, problems, etc.? Thanks for your input! :001_smile:
kdeno
We do not use the workbook even though we have it. My son works the problems on paper. HTH, Kariann
AudreyTN
I just bought TT4 for my 5th grader to do quickly and my 4th grader to do this school year. I ordered the entire set (w/workbook) to see if we'd need it before I invested in a second workbook. As far as I can tell, the workbook does not share any new info. The workbook is massive though, so I do understand the price. My dd keeps a piece of scrap paper at the computer desk while she is working. I don't think I'll buy any more workbooks until we get to Pre Algebra.
mrs.m
I have the WB. We never use it. DD copies the problems into a notebook and works them from there.
Homeschooling6
We have the workbook and dd does use it but I think one can get along with out it. The cons would be if your electricity :001_huh: went out or you have no computer for a few days, but other than that I don't see any cons. King Alfred Academy
Thanks for your replies! I think I'll save myself a bit of cash and just get the cds. :001_smile:
thowell
Not to highjack but are both kiddos using this at the same time? I didn't know you could do that... That would be great as i have 2 in the same grade. How do you do this?

I'm not sure how to set it up, but my friend has 3 of her kids doing the same grade level. Maybe someone can jump in and tell you how.
mrs.m
I'm not sure how it will work on the same computer because of the grading system. You may have to get a workbook and answer key. One uses the computer and another uses the workbook?
Pink Fairy
Call up TT and they will email you instructions on how to use it for more than one student on the same computer.
momof8
Don't waste money on an extra workbook. Having them do the problems in a spiral notebook works just great.

I didn't go any further with asking for instructions though because I had already set TT up on two different computers. I just know it can be done :)

AudreyTN
When I put my CD in it asked me to make a password. Then it asked how many students would be using the program. I had to enter their name and give each a password. I can also add more children if I need to.
Beth in SW WA
I use TT3 with 2 students -- each with her own account and password (middle name). They love typing it in. Dd 7 writes the problems out on paper. I haven't opened the new workbook. No need. We love TT3 :001_smile:.
