joannqn
We're having a birthday party tomorrow that includes dinner and cake and ice cream. I'm setting up a taco/burrito bar for dinner but I'm not sure how much food I need. I'm expecting 15 kids ages 1-14 and 10 adults. Any suggestions on how much refried beans I need? I'm making them from scratch. How about seasoned ground beef? How many pounds? Cheese? Guacamole?
Tap
I can't help you with qtys but I will give you one piece of advice. Only put the food out in portions, but let everyone know there is plenty more available. Once everyone eats, has their fingers in it, sneezes over it, you will most likely not want to save any left overs. If you reserve the extra, and only put out food as needed (say 1/2 in the beginning and then 1/4 at a time afterwards) then you will have 'clean' leftovers. missmoe
10 pounds meat. 6-7 cups shredded cheese not sure about beans---2 oz dried beans per person? Of course, when you serve this will make a difference. Is it supper time? How old are the kids? If most are towards the older age range, you'll need more than if you have a lot of younger kids. Enjoy your party. I'm getting ready to go shopping for about the same things for dinner for tonight---only 11 people for me though!
joannqn
Yes, it's dinner time. The party is 5pm to 8pm. The kids are 1, 1, 1, 3, 4, 6, 6, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10, 11, 12, 14. Sounds like fun in a 1260 square foot house, huh? I was planning on a stockpot full of beans. I think it works out to about 3lbs of dried beans. I was thinking 10lbs of meat and 2-4lbs of cheese. I figured I'd triple my guacamole recipe and use about 6 avocados. Sound about right?
