Jenny in GA
I was planning to start using Noeo Science -- Biology this year based on some reviews I read and the fact that I don't want to do Apologia, ha ha ... But I am looking to order from their site and am not exactly sure what to get and what I need. Is the Instructor Guide enough?? Do I need the Experiment Set? If I need more than the Guide, which of the other books should I get? And is the Instructor Guide just a list of experiments to do, or is it actual information? And for that matter, is there something else that you think would be better, and/or something you think I should know about Noeo (good or bad)? Please advise. robsiew
We did biology this last year. I bought everything. I debated on getting the books from the library, but in the end decided just to get everything so there was one subject I didn't have to hunt and peck for! If you want to do the experiments you would need to purchase them. If you want to search for other experiments to match the topics you certainly could do that. I think the thing that sold me on Noeo was everything was already done for me. The instructor guide is just a schedule of the books and experiments. It does not have information in it. Just FYI... I have the complete set (minus one experiment) for sale used....:001_smile:
momee
and I have the Bio II set used, minus experiments. My dd loved this program and was completely self taught with it :)
dcjlkplus3
we really like noeo science - I like that it is all there - my kids like that we actually get o tdo some of the experiments. I love that the breakdowns of reading the books are there, the experiments are there, which definitions and a few specific questions are all there and I don't have to figure those things out. I do not like the notebook pages that you can copy from the manual - i just end up making my own - but they are there adn you may like them. I have managed to get chemistry 1 (this year) and physics 2 (this coming year) used for a litttle less than new. I think that it is worth it to buy the whole set from them if you can afford it and can't find it used. You read many of the books over a period of time and it would be hard (but not impossible) to coordinate getting the books you need from the library. As far as experiments - the kits are really nice - you don't need them for all of the expeiments, but somethings may be hard to gather (not sure what experiments are in biology). Splash
My kids enjoyed the books but got really tired of the notebook pages. It was very repititious.
