Guest momk2000
Can the Janice VanCleave Science books be used as a stand alone or are they considered supplemental? (grade 4) I need a thorough, but inexpensive science curriculum. Was going to use Science Excursion, but just can't come up with the funds. May try to pick it up mid-year. Closeacademy
Some are more thorough than others and you could pretty much teach the subject and only pick up a few books from the library that had good pictures of things.
Guest momk2000
I was looking at Science Through the Ages. We don't have to go with this one, I just thought it looked interesting and I like how it touches on different topics. Afraid dd might get bored if we spend too much time in one area. Pata
For a forth grader I would at least add a science encyclopedia to the Janice VanCleave books. She does give an explanation of the science behind each experiment, but I do think that a 4th grader would need to read a bit more about it. Hope that helps!
