calledtobehome
Came across this globe for my 7 and 6 yr old sons. If you own one how do you like it? http://www.amazon.com/Drumwell-9878-GeoSafari-World-Talking/dp/B002RA9Z4S/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1280346601&sr=8-3-catcorr

Cindy in FL.
We have a similar one (Quantum Leap) and my boys have gotten a lot of use out of it. I did have to order a new "pen" for it, but other than that it is still going strong after over 5 years. Cindy
Jen in PA
A neighbor gave this to us, and we really like it. Better yet, it is something my kids consider a toy and not a learning tool, so they will pick it up to use on their own.
LibraryLover
We have an older GeoSafari...and it's going to need replacing soon. We all love it. Looking at that link, I am wanting that LeapFrog one. That thing does a ton. Anyone? Wow. Talk me down.
calledtobehome
I think I'm going to order it ifor $9.99 and $6.49 for shipping. I just hope is in good condition like the seller says. The Leapfrog Globe look awesome but I don't want to pay $250.00 bucks for it!
LaissezFaire
We have the older version and we LOVE it. My kids learned so much geography just from playing with it. ETA: Just realized we have the Quantum one.
Catwoman
We have it, and I thought ds would love it, but he wasn't particularly impressed. It's well worth getting at that 9.99 price, though, because your family may love it, and it seems to be very well-made. At that price, you can't even get a cheapie "regular" globe from Walmart! ProudGrandma
can someone tell me what type of questions this globe asks? Like, for example is it triva type stuff...or is it more geographical...like, what is the capital of Egypt? What country is _____ mountain range in? thanks. Beth S
We had an Odyssey I globe for about 10 years (electronic connection between base & globe finally broke), then were given the Odyssey III & have enjoyed it for about 5 years. We do not have many video/computer games, so our kids are happy with this "electronic" device. Their favorite part is the native songs from each country. There is a dial on the front, which can be set to "Facts" or games. With the facts feature, you point the pen to the location & the computer tells you the currency, government, music, population, capital, etc. About 10 choices. Several of the 7 "Eureka Challenge" games: find the continent/ocean, country, capital (very difficult for tiny countries!). You have about a minute to find as many as you can (computer voice calls them out). I believe you can set it on beginner or advanced. It has sparked an interest in geography in all 5 of our kids (ages now 8-18). We have had to replace the pen (first one free, rest are $5 from Leapfrog). (Ours have been a gracious Christmas gift from grandparents.) IMO, the Leapfrog Odyssey has much more quality, features (& music) than the GeoSafari--and worth the extra cost.
