Angela Beshears
I just spotted this and had to share- great for little ones! I am printing mine out as I type, and I plan to cut & laminate. I think I will make some of these memory work for my little girl. http://ngfl.northumberland.gov.uk/Foundation/nurseryrhymes/resources.htm
Laura Cook
Thanks so much for posting this! I am doing a Letter of the Week with my middle child and was looking for activities to help teach different rhymes. We are going to do two letters and then take a week to learn a nursery rhyme and just continue on until we have done all of the letters. I just started looking for activities to go along with the nursery rhymes so this is perfect! Thanks again!

Angela Beshears
So I printed, cut and laminated and my dd loves them! She is 26 months and I thought we would work on a nursery rhyme each week. We started with Humpty Dumpty and I just layed out the sequence cards as I read the rhyme. She loved this and asked me to do it over and over again- which is great b/c then she heard me read the rhyme over and over. Now if I read it and leave out the last word, she will fill it in! She thinks this is really funny. We have also found coloring pages and other books from the library about Humpty Dumpty.
fhjmom
THay you! Thank you!! I am going to print them out and make a little book with pockets for teh sequencing cards! I have been looking for something to teach Littlest some nursery rhymes and this is perfect!
fhjmom
I had an unusual spurt of motivation and cranked out this little book with the nursery rhymes. The pages are pockets with a divider so that it will hold two sets of sequence cards andkeep them seperated. I love the way I turned out and Littles has already been playing with it. I may add a bit of adhesive velcro to the top of the pockets to keep the cards from falling out. I love it when project turns out better than planned! :) ETA: Oh, wow! THose pics are huge! I will try to resize later, but we are running out the door to dinner now.

fhjmom
:D:D:D Please share how in the world you made that? I wouldn't have a clue . . . but I want to know!! Please, oh pretty please, do tell!! It looks adorable!! I have a Bind-It-All (http://www.binditall.com/Products.html) which is a punch and binder for double wire bindings. This is actually the first time I have used it although I have made plenty of precut wire-bound mini-albums before. If you don't have a binder, you could still do the same things and tie is with ribbon, use loose rings, or get creative with how you bind it! Or take it to an office supply and have them bind it for you. For the inside pages, I folded a piece of 8.5" x 11" cardstock in half. Then I trimmed 1/2" from what will be the back side of the pocket page down to the fold. This allowed a 1/2" flap on the front part of the pocket to fold over the back part in order to "seal" the pocket (this is the right side of the page looking at it from the front). Another way to say it: the front part of the page when folded (fold along bottom), is 1/2" longer than the back on the right side of the page, fold this "flap" over the back to form the pocket. The finished page size is ~8" x 5.5". I cut a piece of white cardstock just a hair less that 8" x 4.75" for the divider to go inside the pocket. Slip the divider inside the pocket and fold the flap over and use double sided tacky-tape to secure. The left side of the pocket page will still be open but this will be "sealed" by the binding. Binding will also hold the divider inside the pocket. Print the nursery rhymes on white cardstock and secure to the font and back of each pocket page. I like using a wet adhesive to get a good seal all the way to the edge. UHU purple glue sticks are my favorite. The covers are made from heavy chipboard, cut 1/8" larger (top to bottom) and 1/16" wider than the finished page size - the cover will be flush with the pages along the binding edge and 1/16" larger on the other three sides. I painted the covers with acrylic paint, then made my own cover art using a few of the pictures from the nursery rhyme sequencing cards. I cut that out, matted it on red cardstock and attached to the cover using both tacky-tape and UHU glue stick. Once the covers and pages are finished, punch with the Bind-It-All making sure the divider is seated all the way against the bottom of the pocket. Insert the wire binding and press the wire binding closed. Cut out the sequencing cards for each nursery rhyme and insert in the appropriate pocket. :)
In2why
Great resource and I love what you did with it. I keep telling myself I do NOT need a binder and then I see great ideas like this. :001_smile:
