abrightmom
We will finish FLL 2 pretty soon. My son is a rising 2nd grader turning 8 in October. Do we move on to Level 3 or fill in for the rest of the year with something else??
Brenda in FL
Well, what are your long term goals for grammar? I personally don't see any need to accelerate an early grammar student so far ahead. Will your child be mature enough for a higher level grammar program that requires more time, writing, effort at a younger age? I'd recommend one of two things - 1) Start FLL 3 but go at a very slow pace over the next two years 2) Set up a memory review program for 2nd grade to insure he doesn't forget all the memorization he has done (especially that list of prepositions.) I'm adding a third: 3) If he doesn't have everything memorized - review FLL2 for next year. I'd probably focus more on writing during 2nd grade and then step up the grammar again in third grade with FLL3.
abrightmom
:D These are excellent ideas . . . I have no interest in "accelerating" . . . just want to keep things moving in a forward direction without losing ground. Thanks for the food for thought! It's exactly what I was hoping for!
