Jean in Newcastle
Ok - I cannot put up the painting of my children until I frame the canvas. I cannot spend a fortune doing so. But I do want it framed in a way to enhance it rather than to detract from it. I have a feeling that if I go to an actual frame shop that it will be cost prohibitive. But I'm not even sure what I'm looking for or how to go about this. Is it wrong/bad if I go into a frame shop and get their suggestions but tell them up front that I doubt I will be able to place an order today? (Depending on what they say I would either save money to do it later or I would look for comparable stuff perhaps at a thrift store or a discount place.) What do you think? Any other suggestions? OnTheBrink
Hobby Lobby frequently has framing on sale. I'd check their website for this week's ad. If they don't offer it this week, just wait a week or two, it'll be offered again. Or, use their printable 40% off coupon. Also, HL has frames you can put together yourself. I bet if you take the painting in, someone there can help you find what you need.
Jean in Newcastle
We don't have Hobby Lobby here but we do have Michaels. Would that be comparable?
Mejane
I used to work in a frame shop. It's easy to frame canvas paintings. You simply nail in the canvas. You should be able to find frames at any good frame shop and do it yourself.

Mejane
So - canvas directly to frame? No mat? No glass? (I've never ever done this before.) Nope. You really don't want to put glass over canvas. Think of the paintings you've seen in museums - no mat, no glass. :001_smile:
