mom31257
Does anyone have a good recipe for a breakfast dish with crescent rolls and eggs? I have a friend coming in the morning. I have crescent rolls, eggs, cheese and usual staples. I don't have any bacon or sausage and wouldn't be able to do it because she doesn't eat pork. Thanks for any ideas. Oh, and I will be baking a coffee cake at 350, too.
*********
I went to my favorite recipe site, allrecipes.com. I put in a search for recipes using crescent rolls and eggs. Here's what I found: This Egg and Sausage Casserole looks good. You could just leave out the sausage. Or, I would think you could substitute ground beef or turkey, if you really wanted to have some meat in it. The recipe calls for baking it at 325, so I would think adjusting it to 350 for your coffee cake would be fine, it would just cook a bit faster. Yum, this Breakfast Pizza looks even better. Again, leave out the sausage, or sub some other meat you have on hand. This says to bake it at 375, so again, I think you'd be fine changing it to 350 for your coffee cake. If you don't have frozen hashbrowns, you could just grate up a potato or two and squeeze out the water; that's what I'd do, since I don't keep frozen hasbrowns around. If it was me, I'd pick one of these to go with coffee cake. But I want to add the disclaimer that I've never actually made either of these recipes, so I can't vouch for them myself. They just get good reviews on the site.
Teachin'Mine
What about cheese omelets with the crescent rolls and coffee cake on the side. What time should I be there??? :D If you have some strawberries, one of those and a few mint leaves, or parsley, or whatever looks really nice on the side of the plate. You can even cut into the strawberry vertically from the point to the stem area - make several thin slits - and then fan it out. Orange slice semi-circles work too. You can warm the crescent rolls in the oven too. Good coffee or tea and you're set. :)
AuntieM
I think that breakfast pizza sounds great, you could top with some thinly sliced veggies - tomatoes, bell pepper, zucchini, mushroom, onion, whatever you like/have on hand - instead of sausage. mom31257
Those sound great. I don't have any potatoes in the house or hash browns. I could try the casserole, but I'm not sure if I would need to change any of the amounts without the sausage. Teachin'Mine: They will be arriving about 9:00! How far are you from Georgia? If I made cheese omelets, how would be the best way to keep them warm? Her kids are coming and I have to feed mine, too. I would like to be able to sit down together and eat. Delighted3
How about something like this that they make at Panera bread? You could probably substitute any kind of veggies and use muffin cups if you don't have souffle dishes. http://recipebox.cdkitchen.com/61337/10620/recipe.html HTH, Joy
