MellowYellow
At what age did you start? What manipulatives do you need, or did you purchase with your books? My son will be 5 the end of September. Should I start now or wait one more year?
Julie Kirkwood
Start now! There's another thread around here somewhere, just commented yesterday, re: HWOT that might be helpful to you, too. With my ds, I started at age 5 but focused on the manipulatives, as he wasn't interested in worksheets. My dd is 4 and is very interested in writing so I have ordered the workbooks for her. workingmom
I have a five year old who did KG last year and his hw was horrible bc they didn't correct pencil grip. We started HWT in May and he's doing great!. I just use the WB and have the small chalk board and lined one from his older brother. For the older one we also started in 1st grade and I felt it was a struggle the first few months to have him relearn the letters. But now having gone through the print and cursive he has great hw. The website has great info like videos and lesson plans.
Time for Chocolate
Start in Kindergarten! The manipulatives make building the letters fun. Spend a few minutes a day and he'll be writing before you know it.
