LAmom
Have any of you had to decide between these two? What did you pick and why? I am still debating.... I really want to use TOG and definitely will in the future. But, right now I have a soon to be 2nd grader that I would get TOG for. I was thinking MFW Adv would be easier (use wise) especially with a 5yo, 2yo, and 1yo. But, I still keep looking at TOG.... Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks. campmom
Well I've never used TOG so I don't know about that but I am loving MFW and I think it would be easy to use and let your littles join in they would probably enjoy the read alouds etc.
TN Mama
We'll be using Adventures for 2nd grade. I too love the look of TOG, but I'm thinking of holding off until middle school. Maybe...
Susan in KY
I had this debate, too, and I went with MFW because I felt TOG was a little too much for my kids, who were little guys at the time. I wasn't sorry I did. MFW is a nice, doable curriculum.
WTMindy
Well, if you know for sure that you want to use TOG when your kids get older, I would probably get it now and do the reading outloud (including SOTW) and spend lots of time doing some of the fun projects. If you are not sure, then I would go with MFW. Actually *I* would choose just SOTW. We loved all 4 years of SOTW.
mama27
I looked at both and what finally decided it for was that TOG could be used again and is soooo thorough in the higher grades. I think it's better to get it while they are younger to give YOU time to learn how to teach with it. Starting now, by the time your oldest is in Rhetoric, you will have had plenty of time to teach it the right way. IMO!! lol
