Chris in VA
fine, not icy ice for snow cones or icy treats? Not crushed ice, more shaved, maybe? There's a lemon-something stand in South Florida that makes it--it won't hurt my teeth (I'm a terrible ice-chewer) like crushed or regular ice will. Crissy
Could you mean a Granita? Ree shared a couple of recipes not long ago.
Jean in Newcastle
The hand cranked shaved ice machine that Milovany and I were talking about in the other thread makes a soft shaved ice that doesn't hurt your teeth. In fact, I doubt you could chew it even if you tried!
DarlaS
Will the blender do it? I kind of get that you might be talking more about a finely grated ice than chopped though. Hmmm.... Maybe a hand-crank cheese grater would do it?
Guest Virginia Dawn
I make it in my electric ice cream maker. Slushy ice in 20 minutes. I've done it with lemonade, coke and rootbeer.

I was going to make rice cream, but haven't done that either.

I just put in the freezer tub, paddlle and lid, then turn it on and pour in the liquid while it is rotating. The instructions told us we could. :-)

Now I want a Cuisinart! AHhh, after melting in the 100 degree heat for my son's swim practice, this sounds amazing. Am putting the ice cream tub thingy in the freezer now. Tomorrow will feel like a spa day with a frozen coke - with lemon of course, to make it healthy. :)
