Dmmetler
I got a surprise at my DD's parochial school K graduation. After the class had said John 3:16 in English and Spanish, DD stepped out and said it in Latin! I don't know who had more a "cat who swallowed the canary" look-DD or the Spanish teacher, who had taught it to her ;). I'm AMAZED that DD didn't let the cat out of the bag. Since she apparently enjoyed this, does anyone have any suggestions for memory work in Latin for a 5 yr old (who only just started SSL a couple of weeks ago)? Laurel
Living Memory has sections of proverbs, poetry and prose, scripture, prayers, and hymns and carols in Latin. (As well as in Greek, and then tons of wonderful things in English as well. Great resource for memory work.)
Violet Crown
We say the table blessing in Latin ("Benedic, Domine, nos...) about every other dinner, and in Eastertide, we sing the Regina Caeli as well. And of course the Mass responses that are frequently in Latin in the vernacular Mass (the Sanctus and the Agnus Dei) are good to learn by heart. The advantage of these prayers is that they're used often, so they're reinforced, and practical.
