health in high school... any curriculum suggestions???

Hi,

 

I am open to any curriculum suggestions for Health in High school. ..preferably with biblical principles.

I heard of Total health High school. Has anyone use this before? Any comments?

We used, and I really liked, Abeka's high school health course. I don't use Abeka for anything else, but health was superb IMO. We'll be using it again next year for my middle son.

I ended up deciding to use what was already on my shelf - making my own health class. I'm a nurse so this sounded fun to me (probably isn't everyone's cup of tea!)

I second Abeka. I used it with my oldest son and ds 14 will be using it this fall.It's excellent and can be done in only one semester.

I'll third Abeka and I don't usually like their stuff, but I do like the Health. It is very straightforward, clear TM, etc. We're doing in a blitz of about 6 weeks. Very doable with about an hour a day that way.

We used the Switched-on Schoolhouse high school health CD. It is a semester course, completely on the computer, you get to pick the lessons and quizzes and tests, Biblical. Very easy to use. Health issues are something we discuss regularly and my children didn't necessarily learn anything new, but it was a nice program and pretty much independent work for the student.

I used this with my dd in 9th grade. I made it a year long course and added some extra readings, projects etc. The TM has a syllabus for using it for one semester or a year long course.

Ds1's school uses Total Health. They add in CPR certification and a drug and alcohol awareness program (required for a driver's permit). It's a semester course.
