FriedClams
I was blog hopping today and on one site I watched the trailer for an upcoming documentary on education in America. The website HERE describes the movie Race to Nowhere. "Race to Nowhere is a documentary film examining the pressures faced by youth, teachers and parents in our achievement obsessed education system and culture." It looks really interesting. I guess when I watched it it seemed like what I *think* some HS students face. But I also wonder if that's just my HS bias. What's depicted certainly wasn't what I faced in HS - but that was 20+ years ago. So - what do you think? Will you see the movie? Is is accurate? dangermom
I'm interested in seeing the movie, but I think it probably concentrates on a certain set of kids who are indeed very pressured. However, not all American kids have this particular problem. (Many kids I know do, though, esp. the girls--they get perfect grades, look beautiful, play sports, take leadership positions...it's really a "do it all and do it perfectly" culture.) FriedClams
However, not all American kids have this particular problem. I am encouraged to hear that - I'd hate it for the kids.
