Chloe
1) Add a US history spine to do along side of SOTW. 2) Add more readers and read-alouds pertaining to US history. 3) Both - add a US history spine and more US-focused readers and read alouds. If you add a US history spine, what do you use? Thanks!

Veritaserum
We've used A History of Us and relevant fiction. I plan to look at Drama of American History by the Collier brothers as well.
patchfire
We added the Children's History of the United States encyclopedia, plus most of our supplemental nonfiction, biographies, and fiction focused on the US. It made me feel like we gave the rest of the world not enough focus, tbh. We're starting our rotation a year earlier w/ my younger two so we can stop between SOTW 3 and SOTW 4 to do a year of just American history, partially because of how I felt this worked/didn't work w/ dd. mommylawyer
I'm going to be cutting out several chapters of both SOTW3 and SOTW4 and focusing more on the American Revolution and the Civil War. In addition to SOTW3, I'll be using American Revolution for Kids. Instead of using the SOTW3 chapter on the American Revolution, I'll be spending 2-3 months using American Revolution for Kids (roughly 2 to 3 weeks per chapter of that book; there are 7 or 8 chapters). I don't yet know what I'll use for SOTW4.
