High School History Curriculum

My dd will be starting 9th grade, and I need help with her history. We did encyclopedias paired with outside reading last year, and we did the Great Men series this year (Middle Ages and Renaissance and Reformation) Neither has been a big hit. I have had some friends suggest Sonlight, but I did not know what the curriculum looks like at this level? Any thoughts?

You could check out MFW (My Father's World). My dd will be in 9th next year and is doing the MFW Ancient History & Literature. She's looked at it, and thinks it will be just what she'd like to do! We're really looking forward to it!

I ended up choosing TRISMS because it's research based, chronological and covers a lot more than just history.

I recommend that you plan what you want her to cover over the next four years. Are you planning to study history chronologically a la TWTM? Are you thinking of a more traditional Geography/World/American approach, or maybe something in the middle? Do you want to save room for Economics, Government/Civics or maybe Philosophy/Worldview or are you just thinking of History?

 

I hesitate to suggest a textbook or curriculum without knowing what you are really looking for!

If you want something that is a literature based you could try Beautiful Feet. Notgrass is also a good one that has history, literature and Bible components.
