plain jane
I think I like the looks of this program. I know it's a textbook, and while I prefer real books, I think it may go nicely with Trail Guide. I did use TG this year but mostly for an overview of continents and the different countries... nothing to do with culture or people. I'm considering doing another year of TG, but going deeper into the cultures of each continent/country. The samples of the LightUnits sound like what I would like to cover, but I'm not sure how well done the text is. Would CLE SS for grade 4 be a good fit for this? What are your reviews? Nestof3
I used this the first year I homeschooled Aaron. I used all textbooks that year, but this had to be the most boring textbook ever.
stephanie78
I looked at CLE's 4th grade Social Studies program earlier this year because I wanted to do Geography with my dd but really wanted a textbook because I just did not have the time to do it on my own. In the end I decided against CLE and went with Rod and Staff's Geography. We are using it now, and my daughter really likes it. It's similiar in concept to CLE in my opinion. stephanie78
Oh and if you do decide to go with CLE Social Studies I saw the 4th grade set on ebay eariler today. I can't remember exactly how much it was but it wasn't a lot.
Pat in MI
Hmm, I have it to use with my dd next year and thought it looked okay. We haven't actually used it yet. I only glanced through it. I like the idea of using Trail Guide along side of it. Blessings, Pat
Homeschooling6
We used it this year and dd enjoyed it. She actually reads the textbook on her own time. I was going to sell it once done but she asked me not to because she would like to reread it. Same with my ds who is using the 6th grade Social Studies. We didn't use all the L.U. though. I actually like some of the questions that are in the textbook better. Toward the end of the year I did let the write a few paragraphs of what they read to change things up a bit.
