C_l_e_0..Q_c
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36738724/ns/health-kids_and_parenting After 24 hours in a coma, a Croatian girl woke up speaking only German, according to reports that spread across the Internet last week. The 13-year-old had been studying German in school and watching German television shows on her own, according to various versions of the story, but she was not fluent until after the incident. Meanwhile, she lost the ability to speak her native language. The article goes on trying to explain what little is known about the brain and second language acquisition. I thought it was a very interesting read!
Hannah
Thanks for posting Cleo! We're bilingual English/Afrikaans and I find the process of watching my girls learn a second language (Afrikaans - my mother tongue) fascinating.
