Love2Smile
Has anyone used this? How easy is it to jump right into if you have not used BJU for this subject before? I am mainly interested in the writing portions
Pam L in Mid Tenn
I've used the 8th grade and 9th grade levels. And, I am definitely considering using this again this year. I just glanced at the 8th grade student book to freshen my memory. The grammar is excellent. It is for a classroom, so there are too many senteces in some of the exercises and too many excercises in some of the chapters. Which is good if your student actually needs the practice. At the end of each chapter is a writing assignment. Some are unique. The one I glanced at was about writing captions for photos. There is one chapter at the end of the book that 'teaches' writing in a very traditional way. Brainstorming, graphic chart, pre-write, editing , etc. It does a good job of teaching paragraph construction and topic sentences. I needed the grammar when we did this book. I don't remember assigning a single writing assignment from this book. But, like I already said, the grammar is excellent!
