Tina D
I hope you can help me with some fun or at least beneficial history projects to use at our co-op next year. We will be covering from WWI to the present. Our line up will be : Week 1: introduce the time period Week 2: do a project Week 3: have a guest speaker from the various wars What I really need are the project ideas that they can do in class. I've done a google search but the projects seem... so boring. There are tons of fill in the blanks and/or use the computer ideas, unfortunately we will not have access to a computer lab at co-op. There are 22 students in the class. Thank you in advance for the help. Tina
Leanna Tomlinson
How about a mock trial or mock peace treaty meeting? We did a mock Congress of Vienna in our co-op this year. Each team did research on their country's position. One student per team came to class in costume to play a particular part. The teacher (me) acted as the moderator. Also, we had each team bring in a dish to share from their country.....the Vienna coffee was wonderful and the baklava made me break my diet. ;)

Michelle in AL
Try looking at http://www.socialstudies.com They carry simulation units, which is what Leanna described. They are pricey, but the web site may give you ideas as to what can be done in the classroom and with your own creativity you may be able to create some yourself.
