HollyDay
What would I need to get/buy/put together for a high school level sign language course?
K-FL
It depends on the school. We just did the tour last weekend of U. of So. Florida & they made a point to say ASL does cover the 2 yr requirement for Foreign Lang.
Brindee
This is a good question. DD was interested in doing sign language, but I haven't gotten around to researching if it is accepted at most colleges, or what would be required. I hope someone else chimes in with some answers! Rosie_0801
Heheh. ASL isn't a foreign language in the US, is it? For a high school level ASL course, make sure you work on grammar, formal v informal language, work very hard on classifiers and story telling skills. You would also need to include Deaf culture. If you don't sign fluently yourself, I would recommend you try and find a good class (not easy to find in my experience) and do supportive work at home.
