chai
This year, we finally decided to sign up for the Talent Search testing. I guess that I waited too late, because dd maxed out the test except for math. :glare: What is the recommendation for testing going forward? I'm required by our state to test every other year, but I plan to test each year. She will be 6th-grade-age next year--do I have her take the ACT next? Any other suggestions? Elisa
Yes. Either SAT or ACT, then alternate every year.

I'm required by our state to test every other year, but I plan to test each year. She will be 6th-grade-age next year--do I have her take the ACT next? Any other suggestions? For North Carolina the ACT counts for our required annual testing and the SAT doesn't. DS did the ACT last year (also his last Explore year - I just wanted an overlap to see how the scores lined up), and he'll do one every year we homeschool in NC. The SAT he did this year ("officially" 6th grade), and he'll probably do that until he either hits 9th grade or SET scores, whichever comes first. Generally you don't want to do the SAT when you're in high school because those records aren't purged at the end of the year, so when you're applying to college they could be required. Technically that's true of the ACT too, but given we have to do ~something~ every year, that's the one I'll sacrifice. The ACT is very similar to the Explore other than length, and his first ACT scores were very similar to his last Explore scores (four months apart). chai
Thank you both! I like having a plan. Even though I've read of kids on this board taking the ACT and SAT tests early, I hadn't really thought about doing it for my own.
