We are doing SOTW1, BJU heritage studies, apologia exploring creation with astronomy, BJU english, singapore & abeka math, a reason for handwriting, spelling power, wordly wise, mom made US geography, health & reading units.

 

Of that I will be changing english to R&S next year & abeka math will be dropped and replaced with horizons

My sweet 2nd grader is using:

 

Math: Mathletics and Math Worksheet site at the moment.

Reading: Literature related to Ancients, some Sonlight, Pathway Readers.

Handwriting: Abeka Penmanship

Grammar: English for the Thoughtful Child

Spelling: Successful Spelling 1

Writing: Dictation and letters to pen-friends

History: SOTW 1 with MOH 1 as 'family spine'.

Science: Life Science ala WTM first edition. Currently, Nature Encyclopedia, reading about animals, creature observation sheet. We have a locust and a caterpillar on our kitchen bench at the moment. :D

Art: Abeka Art Projects

Music: Piano and Violin. Singing together, parts, harmony etc.

Memory Work: Scripture and poems. Learning 'Mulga Bill's Bicycle' at the moment.

We are doing 2nd currently.

 

OM2--phonics, copywork, composition, science, social awareness, read alouds (Fables & animal stories)

 

Singapore Math & Rod and Staff Math--the first is our main program and the second is for review.

 

Lapbooks--currently we are in the middle of a rabbit trail about Ancient Egypt. We've done all the lapbooks, read the folk tales, made projects, watched documentaries & movies and now we are going to start learning about the pharaohs and more about hieroglyphics. Totally child-led here.:001_smile:

My 2nd grader is currently doing:

 

Heart of Dakota's Little Hearts for His Glory - Bible, History, Storytime, Dramatic Play & Thinking Games portions.

 

Also, sitting in on Heart of Dakota's Preparing Hearts for His Glory - listening in on all the books (history, science & read-alouds) and doing a few activities, but he's just a tag along for this.

My youngest sweet boy will do 2nd next year...

 

Math - CLE - starting 200 next week, so continue that.

 

LA & Reading - CLE 200

Might start MC 2+, but not sure...

 

Bible/History - Biblioplan Middle Ages with MOH (&SOTW audio's for him) and lots of reading.

 

Science - God's Design for Life with brother

 

Will tag along on English From the Roots Up & Getting Started With Latin...

 

And, lots of reading - the Pathway Readers are his favorite. We are finishing the 2nd grade ones now, so guess we'll jump into the 3rd ones when done.

My 2nd grader is using:

FLL 1/2

ETC 4/5

WWE2

SOTW vol 1 (we've taken 2 years to do it)

Calvert Math 3

Elemental Science Biology

and a whole bunch of natural exploration

 

My 1st grader is doing the same (but WWE1 and Calvert 1), and I am beyond thrilled with their academic growth AND their developmental growth. :)

This will be for next fall's plan for DS:

 

Reading: Reading at his level - make an ongoing book list and do copywork from some of the classics that he/we read

Handwriting: HWT Printing Power, Writing Strands level 2, journal/free writing

Grammar: Finish FLL 2 and debate between FLL 3 or switch to Shurley

Spelling: Finish Spelling Workout B and continue to C

Math: Finish MUS Beta with Singapore supplement

History: SOTW 2

Science: E=mc2 and R.E.A.L. Science Odyssey, both Earth Science courses. We also have Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding if he wants to work through that on his own. He LOOOOVES science.

Art: Complete-A-Sketch Vision-Dexterity-Focus and/or Artistic Pursuits

Music: Piano theory and lessons at home

Logic: Logic Safari

Language: Le Francais Facile Junior and probably Lively Latin (Edited to add that doing two languages is his idea, not mine!)

Other: Swimming lessons and possibly Cub Scouts. Scouts is debatable.

I think she would have benefitted from continuing WWE (which we used for first). With my third dd I plan to stick with WWE.

Spelling---Sequential spelling (but if that doesn't work well with my little guy we will use Spelling Workout B

Math---Saxon 2

History---Story of the World 1...We have the activity book, the CD, and the book as well as other project books....we can't move on because one thing leads to another and we are having too much fun

Science---Lapbooks, Magic School bus, Planet Earth, and the great hands on museums nearby

Art--Sketch Tuesday (thanks to one of the Mom's on here)

Extra's---Building thinking skills, Poetry speaks to children (book and CD)

Hands on learning from life--Composting and gardening for food, meal planning and cooking, Cub Scout Merit badges and Belt loops, Tae Kwan Do, Swimming lessons
