Murphy101
Does anyone know if they still have a placement level test to determine where a student should start? I can't find it. I feel like I'm missing the obvious. A friend can't afford a tutor and I told her this might work well for her teen.
AK_Mom4
It says they offer an assessment with the free trial. http://www.aleks.com/homeschool/getting_started
nrg
In ALEKS, I was taught to place the student according to math history, then use the imbedded placement test/initial assessment. When the student first opens his/her course, teh test will begin. The score will come as a percent of course completion. As @30% of every course is prerequisite/foundational content, you want @20% to be the score on the initial assessment. If your student scores lower, try the next lower course and test again. With a high score, you can just fill in the gaps and move on. That said, there is parent/teacher training available on the ALEKS website. Best wishes.
