SmallChanges
Need some advice here...trying not to panic. I switched from Saxon 4/5 to Abeka 4th grade math in January. We are up to Lesson 57, but we usually test in June. At our current pace, we will complete a little over half of the math lessons before my ds does testing. We use the CAT test, but I'm not sure if we will cover enough for the math portion.
LisaKinVA
The CAT test for grade 4 is the same for grade 5 and 6 (I have it here in front of me) the math portion will cover some things that aren't being introduced in ds 4th grade math book (multiplication/division of fractions for one). Additionally, ABEKA early grades are usually ahead of the average 4th grade math text, with most of the meaty stuff in the middle... and the last 1/3 is usually considered "introductory" to the 5th grade text, as it will be usually reviewed in the first 1/3 of the 5th grade text. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that you will probably be fine.
SmallChanges
Thanks, I really appreciate that information! It was hard to make a switch in the middle of our school year, but my ds has really thrived with Abeka. Thanks again!
