Misty
I recently had two of my daughters tested for auditory processing issues. The 6yr old did very well and there was nothing significant going on with her. The 9yr old was diagnosed with auditory figure-ground auditory processing disorder, which means she cannot hear when there is background noise present. I am very relieved that there was no solid diagnosis of CAPD! I knew she had issues with background noise so I feel this is very accurate. They recommended noise desensitization therapy once a week for 8 weeks. We do not really want to add yet another therapy to our weekly schedule if we can help it. Does anyone have a child with this diagnosis and do you do any type of home therapy? They said I could do home therapy by having her listen to and repeat sentences or short stories with increasing levels of background noise. Anyone ever done this? Do you think the weekly therapy would be more beneficial?
VinNY
For 8 weeks, 1x a weeek..I would do the private therapy instead of figuring out one more thing to do on my own. But then again I am feeling overwhelmed today :). Maybe you can schedule this for summer break. Virginia
