Julie in MN
We are using the same thing. We will add Dissection, Find and identify 30-50 different plants/flowers, and keep a Nature notebook. Well, since this thread has been referenced recently, I thought I'd see if you're around, Marsha. Can you tell me whether identifying 30-50 plants actually happened at your house, and, if so, how you set it up to be successful? We tried doing something like that with Rainbow year 2, and failed miserably, moved on to something else... Julie

Julie My oldest ds took life science at a co-op in 8th grade and that was part of his assignments. We used.... what are they called.... "Field identification books" for wildflowers, trees, shrubs and extra credit for ferns. I wish I would've kept her instruction papers. But it was such a fun project! If Marsha doesn't happen to answer and you want more details of what we did, let me know. :001_smile:

abidnginhim
I just stumbled upon this thread. Thank you so much for posting! I was planning Apologia Biology for my dd but this looks much more like something she would enjoy. I do have one question. What are Master Books? ETA: Nevermind about the Master Books. I figured it out. I actually have several of them, duh. Edited June 10, 2011 by abidnginhim

I have Experiences in Biology here from my older dd, so I could do those labs, but I'd like to throw in some more experiential labs. Michelle My Bell
Resurrecting this old thread to ask if anyone ever thought of using ACE Biology Paces and Lab DVD's with Biology 101? The actual DVD lessons are $274.00 but if I were to use the Paces + Lab DVD's + Biology 101 it would only be $131.73 versus $357.39. Any thoughts? I need something for my daughter next year. Prairie~Phlox
Good Morning All! This is the PM I sent to Brindee regarding Biology. My daughter will be doing 9th grade in the fall and here is the Biology plan for her. We are using Biology 101 DVD's as the base. Samples Here: http://www.the101series.com/ Best Price Here: http://rainbowresour....131134-1747005 Then we will be adding living books (which is what the course suggests). We are going to use several from Master Books as well as our library. Here are a few we chose: http://rainbowresour....131134-1747005 http://rainbowresour....131134-1747005 http://rainbowresour....131134-1747005 http://rainbowresour....131134-1747005 My daughter is also not interested in dissection, so I located some virtual options. Here are some sites I found: http://shs.westport.....t/crayfish.htm http://www.mhhe.com/...._14/BL_14.html http://library.think....ctionGame.html http://www.mhhe.com/...._16/BL_16.html Hope this helps your search. :001_smile: Thanks for all of this.
