Non-fiction recommendation...

Recommended Posts

Not long ago there was a thread about non-fiction for highschoolers. I just finished A Year Without "Made in China" by Sara Bongiorni. It's about a family who tries to go a year without buying anything made in China. It's an easy read, but I found it to be thought provoking. I thought someone might be interested.

Thanks Karen, I'm really enjoying non-fiction now as I try to pull together a course for my dd next yr.

Two I've enjoyed are: Waiting for Snow in Havana~For parents only. There's a lot of cussing, but man it is rich in structure, rhetorical devices, language and LOL funny!

The other is The Year of Living Biblically. This is LOL funny and informative. It does include some difficulties he and his wife have with conceiving along with some difficulties dealing with some of the Jewish Laws that refer to women, so some may not want their kids to read.

Both are really good reads for moms though.
