Have you looked at the CD-ROMS? They come 2 levels on a disc for $25 and seem to have more puzzles than the books. The lower levels are more simple than the ones you typically find online. This is for your 6 year old, right?

I like Dell Logic Puzzles. You can't find them in the stores as often, but their value pack gives a good selection. The one star puzzles work on a similar level as the MindBender books. The two-star puzzles will be a good step up. The three-star puzzles helped me on the GRE with the analytical thinking (although those problems may have changed in recent years). The four and five-star puzzles are just frightening :)

The books do have the solutions in the back. Grids are small, so you may want to redraw on a blank sheet of paper for smaller children.

Thanks for the replies. The online sites are too difficult for him at this point, but would be great for my dd in 7th. I will be checking into the CD's and the Logic Safari books. If anyone knows of sites with more beginning type logic puzzles, I would love to see them. He is finishing up Beginning Book 2 of CT company's. A1 would be next I believe.

Look at Mindware's Grid Perplexors. They're the exact same kind of puzzle, except they have 50+ puzzles per book instead of the meager 15 that Mindbenders have starting with A1.

If you do end up buying any Mind Benders I make them last longer by putting them in page protectors, and having them use a dry erase marker. I have to go in now and then and clean the book, but it is usable for all the kiddo's that way, and multiple times if they wish.

This is exactly what I do. They have LOTS more puzzles than Mind Benders!
