LizzyBee
We have 2 large poster size pictures that were rolled and put in the attic of dh's grandmother's house in Baltimore. They have possibly been rolled up for as long as 50 years. One of them is a printers guild picnic and the other is an event at one of the grand old hotel ballrooms in Baltimore. The first one has dh's great-uncle in it and the second one has either his grandmother or parents; I forget which. We would like to get them framed. I've been told that they have to be unrolled a little bit at a time and possibly wettened so they don't crack. How do you go about finding someone who can handle old pictures like this without ruining them? If anyone here knows someone trustworthy, I'd be willing to mail the pictures away. We are in the triangle area of NC, if someone happens to know of someone in this area. Thanks!
Carol in Cal.
They probably field questions like this all the time. Also, if there is a fine arts museum nearby, ask to speak with the curator. Again, they are trained in that kind of preservation issue.
