Snickerdoodle
is there any example of an intersection without any stop signs? Just looking to see if this is possible or not.
Guest Katia
Of course. Lots of neighborhoods have intersections without stop signs. Some will have "yield" signs, but the rule of thumb is that whenever you come to an intersection in a residential area, you slow down and check for traffic. You should never be driving fast in a residential section anyway, so slowing at intersections isn't a big deal. It was like that in Kansas, Oklahoma and Iowa that I am aware of. I'm sure other states as well.
Amy1k
Absolutely. We have gazillions of them.
Desert Rat
Yup, lots. I've lived in this neighborhood on and off for the last 25 years. Although now there are more yield signs in place than when we first moved here. I treat an intersection with no signs as a four way stop. Jean in Newcastle
Sure. It depends on how big or traveled an intersection is. That's why you have the "right of way" rules that apply to even unmarked intersections.
nukeswife
Yes, our subdivision is shaped like a big letter "P" so where the round part meets the stick there is no sign of any kind.
Ellyndria
There are no signs like that in our neighborhood.
Michelle T
I thought that was typical in residential neighborhoods. Michelle T
Daisy
Most of them don't have any kind of signage. Only the higher traffic roads have stop or yield signs.
