Anyone make their own dishwasher soap....

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used this recipe for their dishwasher soap? Do you think using it long term would harm the dishwasher? If you have a better recipe would you please post it?

Mix and use per dishwasher load:

1 Tablespoon Borax

1 Tablespoon Baking soda

OR

Mix equal parts Borax and Baking Soda, and add 2 Tablespoons per load. Increase proportion of soda for hard water. Use vinegar in the rinse cycle.

Thanks,

Audra

If you use borax and baking soda you're going to need citric acid in there to dissolve all the food off. Just go int he canning section, there should be stuff like Sure Jell? Except powder? Use that. If you can't then get SUGAR FREE crystal light lemonade and add that into your mix.

OHHH i remembered where I got it--in the cleaner aisle of wallyworld by the dishwasher powder? There's Dishwasher CLEANER. THAT's all citric acid. I just dumped some in my mix.
