Daisy
What age do you think is appropriate for watching, Luther, with Joseph Fiennes? I can't remember if there is anything that would really frighten my 10yo. Oooh, wait maybe the scene of the massacre where Luther finds the little lame girl dead?? Think I could skip that part? Anyone remember anything else? She's rather outgrown our little thirty minute, Martin! God Loves You, video.
BikeBookBread
Here's are a few parts that I remember: the burning part... and the slaughter of the Catholic clergy... and the morality play to sell indulgences.
LinRTX
Our 9yo watches this movie. There is also a scene where a young boy hangs himself. We have here close her eyes through this short scene and fast forward through the massacre. She has watched this movie since it first came out on DVD and loves it. She was asking to see it again the other night. Linda
Whereneverever
My sensitive 5 year old just watched the one from the 50s and found it intense, but not frightening.
Brenda in FL
My sensitive 5 year old just watched the one from the 50s and found it intense, but not frightening. We watched this last year - but of the 5, 8, and 10 yo - only the 8 yo had any interest in it.
LND1218
We let all of them watch it. My 4 year old loved it. He fell asleep during it. And woke up the next morning asking to watch the monk movie again because he missed parts of it. The kids did close their eyes during the graphic part of masacre. Daisy
We had about three areas of the film that we "skipped". We skipped, paused, and explained any important parts. That way they "knew" what happened without having it seared into their brain. Thanks everyone!
